Myrtle Beach Pier
With the city building a new boardwalk in downtown Myrtle Beach it makes sense to update the pier and add new attractions. The family that owns the pier and the Lighthouse Motel at the intersection of Second Avenue North is looking to renovate the area. They would like to tear down the hotel and add a parking area with shops. The new boardwalk is set to open in spring 2010 and many local businesses hope to have renovations completed by then. The goal for business owners is to have their properties boardwalk accessible. A new addition will be an ocean front mini golf course where the old Chesterfield Inn is. The mini golf course will be connected to the boardwalk. In the end the new boardwalk is expected to attract visitors and hopefully keep them in the downtown area longer.
