Myrtle Beach Planning Director Jack Walker recently reported the city has applied for more than $5 million for area improvements. In addition, Myrtle Beach is expecting to receive stimulus money through the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development and $50,000 in community block grant. These funds will help pay for road work, park improvements, housing construction & renovation as well as various other community improvements to be discussed in more detail in future meetings. There are also plans for the construction of a four story senior housing complex around Dennison & Canal Street, across from the Old Friendship House. The improvements plans will make Myrtle Beach a more beautiful area to live & vacation in.
