There are many things you should think about when looking to purchase either a 2nd Home or Investment Property.
First and foremost, you need to decide what type of property you are looking for. Would you like a Condo or Residential Home? What size property would you like to have as well, such as the number of bedrooms and bathrooms? What price range you can afford (keep in mind, you need to be able to afford an investment property as well that might not be occupied at given time periods)? Also, an important thing you would want to know is your precise location. You may have come down to Myrtle Beach to vacation for the past 10-15 years in a row but still need to know what your needs are and what goals you have for your location.
If you decide to have an investment property, you want the location to spark some interest. For example, looking at purchasing a condo, you might want to get something close to the beach for the tourists coming to see the Blue Atlantic or decide on getting something with a golf view for that huge golf enthusiast looking to play a few rounds. Most tourists are looking for convenience and if wanting to make the best “Bang-For-Your-Buck,” you need to keep that in mind.
Now, if this property you are looking to purchase is primarily for your use and will be that home away from home, then you would need to see what your needs are. Will this be a property you plan on living in after retirement in the near future or just a place to unwind from while getting away from it all back at home? Do you want a community that has HOA Fees with maintenance taken care of? Would you like to certain amenities such as a community pool/spa or a fitness center?
