This year the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce has big plans for Memorial Day weekend. With everything from American Idols to Astronauts, the chamber is taking a more family oriented approach to the Memorial Day holiday. The Chamber of Commerce’s Military Appreciation Days celebration will take place May 28th through the 31st and will include such activities as a concert with well known performers such as Jordan Sparks, winner of American Idol season six; and a parade to take place on Ocean Boulevard with astronaut Buzz Aldrin as Grande Marshal. There are many events taking place on Memorial Day weekend in addition to the concert and parade including athletic competitions, a memorial ceremony, a golf tournament, and “Combat Cuisine” cook-off. There will also be two parachute jumping demonstrations and helicopter flights. Be sure to mark your calendar and go out and support the brave individuals who serve this great country.
